Cougar Ridge Residents Association (CRRA) Update        Summer 2019

 After a cold and wet month of May, summer is finally in full swing here in Calgary!  You’ve probably seen the Pixie Gardens landscaping crews out in Cougar Ridge, preparing bedding areas, planting flowers, weeding, watering and making our community beautiful. New flower varieties were planted this year, to mitigate growth of certain weeds that have been problematic in the past. New kinds of flowers were planted in the boulevard planters as well. We are pleased with the work so far and look forward to a hot, colourful and flowery summer ahead!

If you have any ideas for potential landscaping enhancements, know of potential problem areas, or see planters with no flowers yet, please email us at feedback@mycougarridge.com We always love to hear from the community.  For general green space (parks/fields/boulevards) grass mowing or weed concerns, please direct those to the City of Calgary’s 311 email or phone line. 

2019 CRRA annual fees are due June 29, 2018.  Our new management company, First Service, has sent out all invoices on our behalf. You should have received these in the mail, and for those of you who provided email addresses, via email as well.  We are pleased to offer more payment options for our member residents this year. Please ensure your 2019 fees have been paid and that your account is up to date. Fees should be made payable to the Cougar Ridge Residents Association

For those with accounts in arrears, collections procedures will follow.  Please remember that your fees are mandatory and you agreed to pay these fees when you purchased your home, as per the encumbrance on your land title.  CRRA fees are not optional fees and they are separate from the West Springs Cougar Ridge Community Association fees.

First Service Residential is the new management company responsible for all CRRA accounts.  This includes mailing of invoices, financials, and collections.

CRRA 2019 Annual General Meeting

Our 2019 Annual General Meeting will be held in October 2019. Details regarding this will be sent out this fall.  Please consider volunteering to be a board member for the CRRA.

Did You Know:HOA Stands for Home Owners Association and is an organization in a planned subdivision or community. Those who purchase a property within a HOA jurisdiction automatically become members and are required to pay annual dues. In our community of Cougar Ridge, this organization is called the Cougar Ridge Residents Association (CRRA).  The CRRA is responsible for collecting and administering these funds, which are used for community enhanced landscaping initiatives.  This is separate from the basic green spaces work (like mowing of common areas/fields/etc.), done by the City of Calgary and other community initiatives and organizations like the West Springs Cougar Ridge Community Association.  The CRRA HOA holds an Annual General Meeting, to elect voluntary members to the HOA board, that will implement initiatives for the upcoming year. 

Who are we? The CRRA is a non-profit organization responsible for the ongoing maintenance of common spaces as well as landscaping enhancements in the community of Cougar Ridge. A volunteer Board of Directors manages the CRRA. These individuals are Cougar Ridge residents elected at the Association’s Annual General Meeting, held each October. 

The CRRAs mandate andobjective is the beautification of Cougar Ridge, through the management of neighbourhood enhancements such as flowerbeds, entrance areas, planters and extra landscaping and maintenance of city boulevards, medians and parks.   These enhancements are only possible through the annual CRRA fees, which are mandatory and listed on your land title.  All homes built in Cougar Ridge under the United Communities and some other developers have the encumbrance on the land title and are legally required to pay it each year.  

What is the difference between the CRRA and WSCR Community Association? The CRRA is a separate organization from the West Springs Cougar Ridge Community Association. The WSCR Community Association is also a volunteer-based organization with various responsibilities including issues affecting the community, sports activities, a community newsletter as well as community events.  Membership in the WSCR is optional.  

The CRRA will continue to submit regular articles to be published in the WSCR Community Association newsletter, so that you are kept informed of what is happening in the community with respect to landscaping.  Please also check our website for new information and updates: www.mycougarridge.com
